Personal Statement

To Whom It May Concern,

I have been acting since I was 6 years old. During these years I have participated in small performances such as ‘The Gift of the Magiand also played an extra in the Spanish film ‘Bajo el Ritmo de la Vida’. However these roles didn’t complete me, so I started to write plays for my theater group.
My own personal experience of journalism started young, my school would write a magazine every season that I was able to participate in and it was a great opportunity to grow as a writer. Last year I was fortunate enough to get a job in a London hotel where I met some amazing professional journalists from Los Angeles, and they have given the opportunity to learn more sbout jorunalism and also they are supporting me to keep going with that. To date I am continuously developing my ability to write, using every opportunity in my path and writing on a regular basis.
I have often said that nothing is impossible, priding myself to fight for what I want. I came to London thinking to be here for only a year. But I have found an abundance of opportunity in the theatre industry here that I would like to be a part of. I realize that I am some-what limited with my English, but since coming to London it has improved significantly and it can only get better.
Having been here for two years already, I realize how much I want study my passion in a country that can improve not just for my professional studies, but my English, and have the opportunity to experience a variety of cultures.
The best thing about becoming a journalist is that you don’t just get to learn knowledge for sake of it, but you also gain an ability to have a new critical perspective on the information you are investigating about society and culture.
My interests include are reading, film, sports and photography (I’m usually seen with my camera). Reading in particular is a great love of mine, because you can introduce yourself in a new world. It’s like when you are acting you can be where ever and who ever you want, leaving your own persona aside. While watching films, I criticize the way people act, it’s enjoyable because it allows me to see the mistakes I shouldn’t make myself. I am sporty girl, when I came to London to be an au pair, I also took the role as a football coach to the children I looked after. Lastly, I have also volunteered at the local Red Cross for the last two summers.
To finish, I would like to emphasize that I am a well-organized and motived person that is able to deal with challenging situations.

Yours truly,

Sara Bores
